December 2013 - KMDF directors participate in an annual Christmas giving in Connections for the Homeless.

November 2013 - KMDF connects a producer, and an owner of Apollo Theatre, and of Creative Productions, Rob Kolson with the leadership of Karlovy Vary International Film Festival.

November 2013 - KMDF supports an annual AFoCR's Czech and Slovak Freedom Lecture in Washington D.C.

 
On November 13th, 2013, Ambassador Michael Zantovsky, Czech Ambassador to Great Britain and former Ambassador to Israel and the US, gave a presentation entitled "The Uncertainty of Freedom and the Freedom of Uncertainty" at the Wilson International Center for Scholars. October 2013 - The KMDF financially supports the Access to Care organization.

 
"Access to Care program is a unique public/private partnership making primary health care and the ancillary pharmacy, laboratory and radiology services available to those individuals caught in the gap between eligibility for public health insurance programs and having private insurance. The program provides affordable diagnosis and treatment to individuals and families for a small co-payment per visit, procedure or prescription medication." For more details click here

October 2013 - Via Foundation Award Ceremony

 
KMDF directors attended the Via Foundation "VIA BONA AWARD" Ceremony in Prague. The Bona Award for Philanthropy is given to individuals as well as corporations in acknowledgement of their charitable efforts. For more information click here

September and October 2013 - KMDF continues to support Connections for the Homeless/Hilda's Place

 
Members of the KMDF continue to prepare and serve dinner once each month for the shelter's clients. In addition, the KMDF organized a clothing, medicine, and other items drive to serve the needs of Connections' clients.

September 2013 - The KMDF supports Mrs. Vaclav Havel's US visit to celebrate President Havel's legacy

 
KMDF members were directly responsible for planning Ms. Havlova's US visit. As a part of the trip, KMDF's board members attended a New York dinner held on September 26th at the historic Links Club, and a dedication ceremony in Washington D.C. in Georgetown University for Vaclav Havel Memorial Dedication.

September 2013 - The KMDF supports an annual Jana Novotna Music Festival in Chateau Liten

 
The KMDF provided financial support for the music festival. From September 6th to 8th, 2013 the festival presented a combination of Jazz and Classical pieces to provide "entertainment and enlightenment for all ages." For more information click here

August and September 2013 - The KMDF supports the former Czech Ambassador to US, Martin Palous, and his presentation to the APSA in Chicago.

 
Ambassador Martin Palous attends 109th APSA, American Political Science Association, annual meeting/conference and exhibition, where he presents ideas on "Power of Persuasion." Financial support for his visit to the United States was provided by the KMDF. The dates of the conference were 8/29/2013 through 9/1/2013.

August 2013 - Four medical students from Charles University Medical School participate in the Global Health Exchange Program."

 
We are very proud of the strong connection the KMDF helped coordinate between Charles University in Prague and Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago. March to June 2013 - The KMDF team invested significant effort organizing "Prague Days 2013."

 
The week long program filled with cultural and educational events promoting the late President Vaclav Havel and his legacy, as well as Prague, Czech republic, opened in September in Washington D.C. The celebrations included a personal appearance and opening by Mrs. Vaclav Havel. For more information click here.  

March 2013 – The KMDF supports Supplies for Dreams

 
This 501(c)3 nonprofit organization created by a number of Northwestern University students to serve underprivileged elementary school students in Chicago. As stated by one of the co-founders: “We believe that all CPS students deserve a realistic opportunity to achieve their dreams in life.” For more information visit www.suppliesfordreams.org.

February 2013 - The KMDF supports "A tribute to 'Papa Bear'" a fundraiser for documentary film: Czechs In Chicago: A Home In The Heartland.

 

 

January 2013 – The KMDF supported the making of “Czechs in Chicago: A Home In the Heartland.”

 
The foundation financially supported this wonderful documentary film project. “Czechs in Chicago will be a permanent legacy for the Czech Community and its future generations in the Windy City, while inspiring in viewers of all nationalities a curiosity about their own cultural heritage.” For more information, visit the project's website: www.czechsinchicago.com.

January 2013 – The KMDF supports The National Czech & Slovak Museum & Library

 
The third installment of the KMDF’s three-year commitment is awarded. The Museum has completed the Kosek Building Room for young visitors who come to view the history and culture of the “Old and New World History and Culture.”
